Minerals and Peptides

SO WHAT ARE PEPTIDES ANYWAYS?

I have been biohacking and digging into health and alternative therapies for years.  I am literally a guinea pig, with the way I feel guiding the way.  So in comes Nathalie Niddam (natniddam.com), we started talking minerals and then started talking peptides.  Now the one thing holding me back from peptides was the needle…..I really don’t do well with needles.  But the way I saw it, this was the perfect time for me to get uncomfortable and overcome my fear; which is exactly what I did!

So what are peptides anyways? Peptides are short strings of amino acids, typically comprising 2–50 amino acids. Amino acids are also the building blocks of proteins, but proteins contain more.  Peptides are easier for the body to absorb than proteins because they are smaller and more broken down than proteins. They can more easily penetrate the skin and intestines, which helps them to enter the bloodstream quickly.  They are noted to expedite the healing process and may also be used as bio-regulators for building muscle, losing fat, improved wound healing and also anti-aging.

WHY WAS I INTRIGUED?

Well because of the potential affect on the mineral system, of course!  I will say it time and time again, minerals are the underbelly of life and longevity.  Without mineral balance, a host of symptoms, including the speeding up of the aging process will come to light.  When we are stressed, this can cause significant autonomic reactions and hence a loss, or deficiency, of vital minerals.  As soon as this happens the body starts scavenging for anything that can replace them to fill the void to survive, which might be toxic metals!

MY STORY ABOUT PEPTIDES.

As I mentioned, I am always biohacking to see if there is a breakthrough lurking in the dark that will help with mineral patterns and potentially break new ground at what some of the major contributors are biochemically for mineral patterns to change.  So, I decided after research, and a long chat with Nat, to go for it and start with something super simple and well researched.

IN COMES BPC-157

So a little background; I have been working with one of the best in the alternative therapy business for high dose iodine therapy to upregulate my thyroid (please do not try this at home; ONLY under the supervision of an experienced professional).  I did have some interesting symptoms which were amplified by training and other regimes, pushing forward, without taking the necessary breaks and self-care that I needed.  So you can see here the patterns that were showing on my test results from January were a bit bleak with regards to adrenals (Na/Mg) and the thyroid was extremely sluggish (Ca/K), even though I was using T3 + Iodine and co-factors.  I was dumping (and had dumped through 2020) a ton of heavy metals; as iodine is very detoxifying, and this was tough on the body.  This caused those symptoms I mentioned which were manageable, but forced me to dial back my lifting significantly to recover, which ultimately; I should have probably done a long time ago.  Let’s look at the comparison changes with doing not only a mineral balance protocol, supporting detoxification with NAC and Glutathione; but also combined with 20 days of 2 x 250mcg of injectable BPC-157.

The chart on the left is from January, 2021 and the chart on the right is from February 2021. One of the major changes was the level of tissue calcium went from 100mg% down to 48mg% (almost ideal).  This was an incredible change, especially in just 30 days.  Magnesium loss is still present and another significant change was the level of sodium increased.  The ideal for Na is 24mg%, during this time mine rose from 14mg% to 36mg% so a little higher than I would like HOWEVER, great increase from November 2020 at 5mg%.  The interesting part of this was I could feel something changing in my body; my drive and attitude were different, more pronounced.  I am also happy to see the cobalt level at 0.005mg%, continuing to come down from 0.008mg% in November 2020.

Let’s look at our toxic elements now.  January you could see that uranium (U) was above the reference range, but coming down, mercury (Hg) was steadfast at 0.02mg%, cadmium (Cd) was coming down from 0.005 to 0.003mg%, lead (Pb) was registering at 0.1mg%.  Now go to February and I started to dump uranium (U), dump arsenic (As), mercury (Hg) moving up slightly, cadmium (Cd) continued to come down, lead (Pb) came down (see arrows meaning insignificant to measure, even though it still says 0.01mg%) and aluminum (Al) was up just a bit, so might be dumping a bit of that too.  Wow, a lot going on here!  The body is literally starting to clear things out!

These are the additional elements measured by TEI, you can see in January (chart on the left) the bismuth (Bi) and strontium (Sr) are extremely elevated.  These have been elevated since the beginning of 2020; I equate this to the introduction of iodine.  Comparing the chart on the right from February 2021, bismuth (Bi) is starting to come down from 0.249 to 0.126mg% and strontium (Sr) is normalizing finally down from 1.65 to 0.52mg%.  Was this from the addition of BPC-157??  These are some great changes, but there is still more experimenting to do.

Some major movement in ratios must be noted here as well.  At 3.43 for the Ca/P ratio, which represents the oxidation or metabolic rate, is within the reference range and moving towards ideal.  Na/K is elevated, however, given the number of metals I am dumping, this would be considered normal.  The next improvement was Ca/K (Thyroid Ratio), the thyroid is starting to come back into range and is less sluggish from 16.67 to 9.60.  The next big change is Na/Mg (Adrenal Ratio), up from 0.78 to 2.09.  The adrenal ratio and blood sugar ratio are being affected by the magnesium loss, so ultimately these ratios are much better than they appear, given that magnesium is a loss and truly not as elevated as it seems.  I will be starting to address this loss pattern with transdermal magnesium, higher B6 doses, as well as additional Boron.  The Fe/Cu ratio is a bit low, so I will be digging deeper into gut health and implementing not only a GI-MAP test to assess for pathogens (I do this annually anyways), but also the OAT to assess mycotoxins, etc.

SO WHAT’S NEXT?

My body had a lot of work to do with regards to metals and thyroid issues; it seems that maybe BPC-157 helped to expedite the process of healing.  I will continue to experiment with peptides and bioregulators to monitor and document their changes.  Next on my list is to implement a protocol for a client that would like to try BPC-157 for research purposes.  We just sent off the Pre-BPC 157 hair sample for testing and will be starting the 20 day implementation, along with mineral balancing shortly.  Watch for the results of that beta-test to see if there are consistencies with the changes based on peptide and mineral balancing combined. Stay tuned…..
